My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

MEET STAR! Star is only 3-1/2 year old and weighs approximately 9-1/2 lbs. Star has recently been diagnosed with diabetes. Otherwise, she is a perfect Little Florida Princess. Sweet Star is being fostered in Jacksonville, FL.

UPDATED BIO 10/30/2018: Hello everyone, Star here. It has been a hectic and kinda stressful few days. My family that I had since I was a puppy felt I needed a family that could better provide for the diabetes I was recently diagnosed with. They worked long hours and wanted to be sure I received the time commitment and care I needed. I also think my former mom didn't like giving me my shots. We spent most of Saturday riding in the car to meet my new UYR Foster Mom.

We finally arrived at my new Foster Mom’s home and it was kinda strange initially but gradually I figured things out. I saw a different vet yesterday and I had to stay with them while they did a test called a glucose curve. It's supposed to help me get my insulin regulated. I will need the insulin for the rest of my life. Foster Mom was told that I will need to have this test every 2 weeks until my insulin dosage is just right.

When I got home, my Foster Mom gave me lots of love, just like she does for the dog and cat I now live with. Foster Mom was very happy that I lost some weight, but she did remind me that it will be good if I lose a little bit more. I eat a special kibble made for dogs like me that have diabetes. I will need regular vet visits in the future to be sure my diabetes and insulin levels stay under control. I look forward to a long happy life with a special family.

I'm slowly adjusting to my new environment and will soon be ready to find my furever home and family. I like to go for walks and play with my toys. I'm house-trained and will also use puppy pads. I sleep in my crate and at times get to be in bed with my Foster MomIf you think you have the perfect home for me and would love me forever, please click on the link to send an adoption application to my Foster Mom. She said that whoever is chosen to adopt me will be very lucky since I am such a sweet little girl.
