Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Hey, Hi, Hello, Hey!!
So I'm Layla, and I LOOOOVE giving kisses! Smooches all around, on me! And on you! And you!
I'm a super-friendly Shepherd mix, and family gossip seems to point to maybe some distant beagle or pointer mixed in because I am always sniffing and smelling with my tail up (and wagging!). No matter my heritage, I'm just a love bug as I enjoy being showered with attention and pats and ear scratches. Oh yes, ear scratches please!!
They say I've made seven trips around that big yellow ball in the sky, but my foster family says I'm more energetic than most 7-year old fur pups. I love to take lots of walks and investigate everything - and I might have even chased a squirrel or two (or 12, who's counting?) but I'm just having fun which is what life's about, am I right?
I'd so totally love a fenced in yard to ramble and bounce around and run off some of this energy, or maybe someone who likes to walk or jog often, would that be you? I promise to shower you with love and kisses because it's what I do.
My friendliness extends to my foster fur-sister, a 9-year old German Shepherd who also gives lots of kisses but is the easy-going to my energetic nature. We get along great and like to check out the same mailboxes and stop signs during our walks, but she prefers to chill when we are done while I am ready to keep on truckin'! The other fur-family member in my foster home is a kitty who is the GSD's best friend, but I'm not so sure about those felines. I kinda, sorta wanna chase them like I do the squirrels, but she tends to keep her distance and I try to ignore her but sometimes the urge hits and ... squirrel!!
I've heard my foster family say how well I walk on a leash - with not much pulling and easily correctable - and that I seem to take directions well. I know some of their requests (sit, down) but they do it differently than my previous parent so I am doing my best to learn. And they give treats which definitely gets my attention!
I love my foster family but am ready for my furever home! Are you the one to shower me with attention while I shower you with kisses??
From her foster family: "Layla is an amazingly sweet girl who acts much younger than her age of 7. She does well on a leash, and goes into her crate quite easily although may need a nudge occasionally because she always wants to be near her people as most Shepherds do. She is wonderful with our 8-year old GSD but shows some interest in our kitty and chasing squirrels. I hesitate to say 'no cats' but would be sure of your confidence level of any resident felines. Layla also loves all people, including our 9-year old daughter so kids are no problem. She's met lots of friends and family and doled out lots of kisses; her tail always seem to wag non-stop. She is going to be a wonderful and loving addition to someone's family!"
Her adoption fee includes all her vetting, spay, microchip and 30 days of free pet insurance! If you'd like to adopt Layla please visit our website at www.care4pear.com/adopt-1 to complete an application.
**Layla als qualifies for our senior to senior program** Adoption fee is $125 for adopters age 68 or older.
