Hi, my name is THEODORE, THEO for short. I am a 4-year-old Shih Tzu mix who was surrendered to the shelter because my family no longer had time for me.
My foster mom says she doesn’t understand how they could give up such a loving dog. She said they should have given me the nickname of Teddy instead of Theo since I am a big “Teddy” bear. She also said you don't just take a family member to an animal shelter. She told me she would find me a loving “forever” home.
When my family took me to the shelter, they said I was a good dog and that I was housetrained—they just didn’t have time for me. I don’t understand that—I don’t take up that much time. I am not very active—in fact I am a bit of a couch potato and am very much a lap dog. I would love to cuddle next to you and be pet. Although I do love attention, I am also fine sitting in the same room with you. I will often curl up on a dog bed next to foster mom’s chair. I don’t have to have attention 100% of the time.
Because I am a Shih Tzu or a Shih Tzu mix, I am a no-shed/low-shed dog. Even though I don’t shed, I do have longer hair and will need to be brushed regularly and groomed periodically.

Anyone interested in our dogs must be over 21. We are only able to adopt to homes within a reasonable driving distance of the dog's foster home and please be prepared for a home visit by one of our volunteers. We do not adopt on first-come-first-served basis, we want to make sure the dog is right for the family and vice versa based on what we know about the dog's personality, habits and behaviors.
