My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This dog is being fostered in Dallas TX and must be adopted within the Dallas, North Central Texas or the southern Oklahoma area.

NAME: Joan Jett
GENDER: Female (Spayed)
AGE: About 3 years old
WEIGHT: About 7 pounds
DOGS/CATS: Tolerates other small dogs, Unknown with cats
CHILDREN: All adult home, experienced adopters recommended

Meet Joan Jett, named for her beautiful eyeliner and fierce Mama instincts while raising her puppies. The son of Joan’s foster parents said “Joan Jett is one of the most bad a– of all the rock stars”, and that is how she got her name!

On January 6th, CRT received a call from a desperate family. A stray Chihuahua who had been roaming the neighborhood for months was curled up in their back yard having puppies. The weather was supposed to dip into the 30’s that evening, and they knew the puppies would not be able to survive that type of weather. CRT raced over to help and brought the Momma and her three puppies into our rescue. Joan Jett is the Mama who was saved that night. Her puppies have all been adopted and now it is her turn!

Joan has recovered from her rough life on the streets, including giving birth outside in January. This girl is tough and is a survivor. She is also playful, loving and energetic and ready to meet her fur-ever family.

Joan tolerates the other small dogs in her foster home. She is MUCH more interested in toys. This girl loves all kinds of toys – especially the squeaky ones. Joan will throw a small ball to herself over and over. She loves to go outside and is an intrepid squirrel hunter (although not a squirrel catcher!). Believe it or not, she has taught herself how to climb a tree in search of squirrels. See the fun pictures of Joan climbing trees! Such a unique skill!

Joan would like to be an only dog whose family cuddles with her and takes her on long walks. She is smart and athletic and will be a great addition to the right family. Note that because of her life on the streets, she can get startled if you approach her suddenly. She is not fond of children. Because of this, we recommend an all adult home and experienced adopters who will be patient with her as she gets to know you. We also think she might enjoy being the only job.

Joan is housebroken and she knows how to use a doggy door. Joan is crate trained and happily goes in to her crate at night to sleep. Joan is about 3 years old. She has a beautiful sleek black coat with brown highlights and dark eyes. She is a perfect 7 pounds.

Joan is being fostered in the DFW (Texas) area. If this sweet girl sounds like the right fit for your home, our CRT adoption form can be found at: http://www.chihuahua-rescue.com/adoption-application/

Joan is spayed, micro chipped, up-to-date on shots, HW negative. and on heartworm prevention. She is ready to join a loving family – could that family be yours?

This dog is a CRT rescue. Reference checks, adoption contract and $200 adoption fee required.
