My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hey there all you prospective adopters! Raven here…  I could tell you what a sad situation I came from but it wasn’t so bad. I spent my first 18 months with a breeder who took pretty good care of me but unfortunately, she passed away and left me homeless. I was lucky enough to be taken in by Moonsong and found myself in a great foster home. I now know what it is to be a pet, an indoor dog. My foster mom says I am pretty smart since I’ve never been inside before but so far no messes! I must be a natural insider! I love to be with my foster people especially if I can sneak up on the sofa and fall asleep on their laps. I am pretty big to sneak up there but am really good at curling up in a small area next to my foster dad. Cuddling is my favorite thing I think. My second favorite thing is my cache of toys. I carry them from one room to another and then back again. My foster mom thinks I treat my toys like my babies. Maybe…she could be on to something. The one thing I am sad about is, for some reason, my first mom I lived with (the breeder) had me debarked! I can still make sounds but my ‘woos’ sound like I have laryngitis. I am almost 2 years old, spayed, current on vaccinations and weigh in at a spry 77 pounds.

Love notes from my foster mom: Raven is probably one of the sweetest, gentlest dogs we have had the privilege to foster. She only wants to be with her people and please them. She will literally lay across my husband’s lap with her head on his shoulder and fall asleep. Even though she spent the first part of her life outside in a kennel, she has taken to being an inside dog well. She has never made a mess in the house and does not seem to have the normal separation anxiety that many rescue dogs come with. She doesn’t mind being in a crate or left alone in her own room at night even though she would prefer being with her people. She does have a shy side and it will take a few days for her to come out of her shell but boy is it worth it. We feel that she would do best as an only dog. We have had her around 2 of our 3 dogs and so far, it hasn’t worked out (or we would probably adopt her ourselves!). She does need some formal training. Her basic knowledge of commands is limited to only ‘sit’ right now and walking on a leash has been entertaining as she has no clue about walks. She is very food motivated, and very smart, so training should be easy (as easy as it can be with a Malamute). If you are looking for a young, gorgeous female, Raven may be the right dog for you. If you’re ready for a squeaky voice in your household, fill out an application and give this gentle dog a fur-ever home.
