My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Yoyo is a handsome, friendly, male Shih Tzu. Born in 2011 (we don’t know the exact date); he weighs 14 pounds and has a soft non-shedding black and white coat. From puppy hood, Yoyo brought sunshine and purpose into the life of a woman who loved him dearly. Unfortunately, his owner had to be institutionalized and the family was unable to care for him; he arrived at the Safehouse on 10/28/2018. Yoyo is accustomed to living in a home with a single working lady, so he comes with some basic training; he knows what “no” means and when you call him . . . . HE COMES!! Yoyo really treasures the lively attention of people; undemanding, he wants nothing more than to be loved and hugged, with toys and treats thrown in as a bonus!! Healthy, playful and active but always willing to climb into your lap and snuggle. His adorably innocent eyes and wagging tail are an irresistible combination that will melt your heart. A faithful companion who will play quietly, sit by your side or keep you company while you work around the house. Although Yoyo may have been housetrained in his previous home, while at the Safehouse he has access to a doggy door and this tends to weaken housetraining habits; so he will need time and help to readjust to a household and schedule. Yoyo does fine with older children and other small dogs but no cats. Keep in mind, he is not a couch potato lap dog, he will need a home with daily walks but he loves nap time too!! If you are looking for an instant companion, who can settle right in, leave you time for yourself and let you get a good night’s sleep (he’ll gladly share your bed), come meet Yoyo. All he wants is a second chance at a loving home. He is awesome and we think it will be love at first sight. Yoyo is neutered, microchipped, current on all vaccines, heartworm and flea/tick preventative, and he has had a complete physical and dental. His adoption fee is $300.
