My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Calvin
Bichon Frise
12/3/11 (7 years)
Springfield MO

Calvin came to us with the help of a Good Samaritan, he was surrendered by a puppymill to a high kill shelter in Mississippi. When we received Calvin he was heartworm positive, debilitated by horrible arthritis, and suffering from cellulitis from a spider bite. Calvin has been treated for all of his health conditions, he is now negative for heartworm, and his arthritis is well managed with a prescription diet, joint supplements, and prescription medication. Calvin is also blind in one eye.
Despite all of this, Calvin has such a sweet soul and is a laid back companion. He has been known to play with toys, but he prefers to just take it easy & relax. Calvin gives THE BEST hugs, he is great around other dogs but wouldn't be unhappy being the only dog at home, he is the perfect snuggle buddy and is content just to lay by your side all day. He loves to be outside and to go for walks, and has recently enjoyed being free to run. He is completely housebroken, but gives subtle hints when he needs to be taken out, watch for him to head to the door to go outside. Sometimes he might whine to let you know but he very rarely barks. He loves belly scratches & treats and happily wags his tail when you call his name.

Calvin’s adoptive family MUST continue to provide him with monthly heartworm prevention year round as well as continue to provide for his joint care needs.
