Astra is a sweet, gentle soul. She has the big gold eyes, sleek coat and slightly wide, short muzzle of a Bombay. Although her coat looks like it's solid black, she actually has a white undercoat, and in the right light you can see her tabby pattern, just like you can with a panther! She loves other kitties and is eager to make friends with them. She enjoys playing chase and loves wands and hanging toys that she tries to capture. She's clever and determined and has liberated numerous toys that were hanging on cat trees. Astra is especially fond of balls and like a true panther, she carries off her prizes - whether they are wicker balls or tasty treats (chicken is her favorite.) She gets up early every morning and sits in an east-facing window to watch the sun rise. Astra loves the heater and lounges on the floor vent to warm her tummy. She is her own unique individual and while she is kind and patient with others, she likes to do things her own way and in her own time. Astra has had a rough start in life - she came to us from a shelter, where she was brought when she was only 8-weeks-old, then slipped through the cracks and spent the next 3 months in a cage in a back room without any socialization or companionship. Naturally, this has made her shy and slow to trust. Astra really wants to be friendly and social, but she needs to consider things and take them in her own time. Astra needs a calm, patient family that will encourage her, as well as give her the time and space she needs to warm up to them. Astra would love to stay with her best friend Clara and they will need to be adopted together. Astra is spayed, microchipped, FIV/FeLv negative and up to date on vaccines.
