My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Jax is a 9 pound Maltese most likely from a puppy mill. He was found as a stray in an area with a number of puppy mills. Lucky boy to have escaped! We pulled Jax from a rural shelter. At just over a year old, he was in need of socialization. He was also emaciated and had hair loss but Jax has flourished in foster care! He figured out that life is truly good!

Jax is just over a year old and is still very puppyish. He is house and crate trained. He loves his walks and is doing well in the car as long as his foster sibs are with him. Jax is great with other dogs of all sizes and with cats. He is fine with respectful children ten and older. Jax LOVES to play and he loves to cuddle. He is a velcro dog that sleeps in bed at night and is your constant shadow during the day. Jax is smart and engaging and wants to please. All good traits for training.

Jax's adoption requirements are a fenced yard or fenced area large enough for adequate exercise that leads directly into the house. He is not a candidate for an in ground fence system. He will need to live with someone that is not working a typical 8 hour work day; someone that works not more than 4 hours a day, someone who works from home and can have their dogs in their work space or someone who is retired and yet still active. Jax will need another active dog in the home. Size does not matter. He does love to play but he also uses other dogs to help him feel confident and to emulate their behavior. Any children in the home must be over 10 and respectful with dogs.

Star-Mar Rescue is a natural care provider that strives to place our dogs in homes that are already on a natural care program or are eager to learn. We use no chemicals on our dogs, no commercial flea, tick or heartworm products (oral or topical), do blood titers instead of randomly vaccinating. Our yards are without fertilizer and weed killer and our homes are toxin free. We believe in protecting without harm. Dogs can be protected without the use of harsh and damaging chemicals and unnecessary vaccinations. They do best on a species appropriate, no grain, raw diet. This simple step will provide your dog the nutrition needed to keep them healthy and happy for many years unlike feeding a lifetime of processed foods.

We are happy to talk with you about caring for your dogs in a way that helps to keep them disease free long into their senior years, through their teens and even into their 20's. We are convinced that removing unnecessary drugs and feeding a species appropriate food, adds years to our dog's lives. Join millions of dog owners who are learning to protect their dogs using healthy, immune building care methods that will keep your companion vital for many years. You can go to Star-Mar Rescue Natural Care facebook page to learn more about natural care. Click on "videos" on the left of the home page and watch the series The Truth About Pet Cancer. It will give you a lot of information about natural care and why it is so necessary for our dogs' health. Go to Star-Mar Rescue facebook page to learn more about our organization.

If you feel that your lifestyle and environment meet with Jax's needs, contact Martha at learymjri@aol.com or call 330-466-3667 or 330-262-0515 for an application or more information. Petfinder's link for information is not reliable. Jax's adoption will require an approved application and a home visit, with adoption completed at his foster home in Wooster, OH. Jax's adoption fee is $275. We will work to place him within a 2 hour driving distance from his foster home so that we can conduct our own home visit bringing Jax with us.
