My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Grace is a very sweet puppy who is in need of a foster home. She is in need of an Angel who will foster her through the rest of her recovery and until she finds a forever home. She's about 5 months old and 25 pounds. She won't be ready for adoption for a couple months yet until fully recovered. If your interested in fostering her please click on the link to complete the foster application form. https://angelsonwheels.org/foster-care-application-form/ We will go into more information about her after it's received. We have no idea of breed. It's just now we are starting to see a dog. She was a mess when she arrived.

Grace is wonderful with dogs, children, people everyone. She's a happy puppy. She will chase and pounce on a cat to play but most cats don't like this. She isn't leash trained, meaning she just doesn't walk on a leash so if you don't have a fence there will be a transition until she understands that. Generally in a few days they are fine. She needs a foster who is home more given she needs many potty breaks. She sleeps in bed with the foster at night and has no accidents. She sleeps all night long and enjoys the cuddle time.

Grace doesn't have mange, but auto immune which is already on the mend with the right medications. She will not be on the meds for her life. Right now we are weaning her off the steroids then she will be done. The vet thinks it may have happened because of the first and only vaccination she got at the shelter. Rare this this extreme though. Totally treatable, but she may have some scars left from the damage it did to her skin. Only time will tell with that. She has been on prednisone (steroids) for the last month and will remain on it for about another month which makes potty training difficult because steroids makes you thirsty and thus you have to pee more.

The foster who has her wasn't prepared for a longer term foster of. She's had grace for about 2 1/2 months, her husband went back to work full time, and 8 hours is too long for this girl to be left home alone. The foster didn't expect to have her this long. Since the husband went back to work 8 hours isn't ideal for a puppy to be left alone, Grace really needs a new foster to help your continue healing and until she can fine a forever home. She needs to be seen by the vet at Crest Hill Cat and Dog Clinic, but we will bring her for you if you can't. We were taking her there for the current foster and absolutely will continue that.

Grace isn't crate trained, but could really benefit from learning how to be in a crate. She's at that chewing age and when unsupervised toys, pillows, shoes, remotes (I don't know why puppies love those remotes...lol) shouldn't be left out for a puppy to chew up. All puppies chew, it's the age. She will need a place to be securely confined when left alone like gated in a kitchen or laundry room until she can be crate trained.

We are anticipating that she will be ready for adoption in about 2 months. We aren't sure how long it will take her to find a great home so we are hoping her new foster will be willing to keep her until one is found. She does have a grade 3 heart murmur but xrays didn't show any abnormalities with her heart. We realize this is a tall order but are hoping a person/family who has the time and a heart of gold will be Grace's Angel!
