Hi. My name is Peanut, and I am a young and handsome beagle that needs to find a new family to love me. I am approx. 3 years old and weigh 27 lbs. I used to live in a rabbit hutch in New Jersey with my other beagle ‘siblings’. Penny Angels recently rescued me (and my sister, Maggie) from that difficult situation. I am so glad that I don’t have to live outside anymore. I am a fearful boy when I first meet people, but I am slowly making progress. I wasn’t socialized in my previous home, so everything is new to me. I learned how to use the doggie door in Rescue and am trying to get settled in a home environment. I would do best in a quiet home without small or active young children. I would like to have a doggie friend in my new home, though I might be okay on my own, too. I will need some help with leash-walking. If you have a fenced-in yard, please make sure that I can’t escape; if I get out, you will have a hard time trying to catch me.
My new owner should either have some experience in dealing with shy dogs OR be willing to spend extra time working with me. I want to learn how to be your best friend, so I hope that you will be patient with me. I was recently neutered and microchipped. I will be at PetSmart in Mays Landing, NJ on Saturday from 11- 3 pm.
