My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Gracie!

Gracie is a beautiful 7 year old chow/shepherd mix, weighing approximately 35 pounds. She’s come a long way since being rescued at the age of 1 from a shelter in Indiana, but now needs a new home without a baby.

She’s wonderfully loyal, affectionate, and obedient, and has so much love to give. She’s relatively active, but will keep up with whatever her owner’s lifestyle is — loves walks, but also loves sleeping in and snuggling. Although she’s well trained (obedient and house-trained), her chow and shepherd traits are strong — she takes awhile to warm up to strangers, and will stay by her owner’s side. Dog parks aren’t a good place for her because of her instinct to go after smaller animals. She needs a home without children or other small animals, but gets along great with larger dogs, and I think she would thrive in a home with a larger dog as a companion.

She's the absolute best under the right circumstances, and her next owner/s are very lucky.

Gracie's adoption fee is $150 and is available in Shorewood, WI.

What is a "Courtesy Cupid"?

Courtesy Cupids are beloved pets that need to be re-homed because of varied circumstances. They are living with their current families, and are not part of the Canine Cupid foster system. Due to the third party nature of these courtesy postings, Canine Cupids makes no guarantee, and claims no knowledge as to the accuracy of the information provided regarding the pet and cannot be held liable for any misrepresentation or misunderstanding between the current owner and the applicant.

Applicants must fill out an online application in order to be placed in contact with the surrendering family. Canine Cupids will only be responsible for processing the application and screening any provided references as a courtesy to the family surrendering the pet. It will then be up to the current owner and applicant to then communicate, in as much detail as requested, the animals age, health, behavior, background, schedules, eating habits, sleeping habits, play styles or anything else that may assist in making a good match between the surrendered pet and the applicant. Because all our Courtesy Cupids are fostered in private homes, an approved application MUST be on file before proceeding with a meet-and-greet. The online application can be found at http://www.caninecupids.org/adopt-.html.

About Canine Cupids

Our Thoughts on Visual Breed Identification
Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable. For most of our adoptable Cupids we are only guessing at the predominant breed or breed mix. We think it’s most important is to get to know each dog as an individual! We then do our best to describe each of our adoptable Cupids based on their personalities in order to determine whether they’ll make good companions based on prospective adopters’ lifestyles. Dog behavior is not exclusive to breed — it’s a complex mix of nature and nurture.
