My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Mouse is in a foster-to-adopt situation!

Meet the charming, sweet, and sometimes shy Mighty Mouse! Mouse is a very special addition to NLOL. Chicago Animal Care and Control rescued Mouse and many other dogs and puppies from an animal hoarder. This person thought he was doing a good thing by taking in stray dogs, but he amassed quite a collection and he was unable to properly care for them or socialize them. Once the dogs were all brought to ACC, they discovered that one of them was microchipped and were able to reunite him with his distraught owner! Mouse was one of the few who was socialized enough to place with rescue, and we were delighted when he passed our tests and was made a member of our pack.

Mouse is some sort of mutty shepherd mix, which we lovingly call a "Chicago Brown Dog." Mouse can be a bit shy in new situations, due to his lack of socialization before coming to NLOL. He is careful when meeting new people and going to new places, but he LOVES other dogs! When Mouse is comfortable, he has a ton of puppy energy and loves to chase after toys and run around the house. When he goes on walks, he seeks out other dogs and plays as long as he's allowed. His foster mom says that he is a cuddler in the house, very trusting in a loving environment, and will be a very loyal companion dog.

He is currently in a foster home where he is learning that routine is king and housetraining is an art. He loves his crate and loves to curl up on the couch or bed with his foster moms. Mouse will need a person or family with the patience to help him build his confidence. Food is a great motivator for Mr. Mouse, and fortunately that makes his training much easier! Mouse is just a baby and needs a lot of exercise, both physical and mental. Training is a great way to work a dog's mind in addition to his body. We would prefer to place Mouse with another dog, but would consider a home where he is the only dog if he gets a lot of playtime and socialization with other dogs.
