My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Dewey is approximately 1 y/o and is a little shy at first but quickly becomes very affectionate. He was picked up as a stray at animal services and with his sorrowful gaze, how could we not take him? He likes to be a lap dog and can roll himself up into a ball to fit just about anywhere. He was terribly thin when we got him at animal services and despite gaining 50% of additional body weight, it appears he will always be lanky and thin. We think he has some Greyhound in there, both in confirmation, movement, and behavior. He has a high prey drive as most sighthounds do, so he should not be in a home with cats. He gets along very well with other dogs and is very playful. Dewey has an esophagus issue which requires a special feeding schedule but is easily managed. In his foster home he gets along splendidly with a larger bigger brother and two smaller dogs, and insists on following his foster dad from room to room and being in constant contact when on the couch or in bed. He is house trained and is good on a leash, he does get intimidated and nervous in large groups of people. But he was a trooper when we took him downtown to Channel 8 to be on the news just before Christmas! Dewey has been neutered, chipped, vaccinated and started on heartworm prevention. He is heartworm negative. We require a house with a fenced yard, where he will be an inside dog and won’t be left alone for long hours during the work week.
