Sparky is a delightful little guy who has been through a lot in his young life, yet still retains a charming, loyal, loving disposition. He can be a little shy and nervous at first, but once you've earned his trust, he's delightfully affectionate and obedient.
He's about 18 months old and weighs about 8 pounds now, though he will likely gain a bit of healthy weight now that he's been rescued. He's been neutered, microchipped and vaccinated and is heart worm negative and on monthly flea and heart worm prevention. He's crate trained and well on his way to being fully house trained, though like any dog, he'll need some encouragement and positive reinforcement as he adjusts to your home and routine.
If you call and talk to Jody, our rescue coordinator, she can tell you more of his story - but he's been through some severe neglect (though we aren't sure for how long that went on...) He is doing great now, and seems to prefer regular company (canine or human.) He does well with other dogs and loves to romp and play in a fenced yard. (Sorry, we don't have cats or small children, so I cannot tell you how he'd react to either of those groups.) He also can be sweet and snuggly - enjoying "recliner time" in the evening.
If you are interested in learning more, please call or text Jody at 352-316-5155 or email her at 2ndChRescue@gmail.com. (His adoption fee is $150.)
