Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Note: Axel is presently in boarding and would really benefit from being in a foster home. If you'd like to consider fostering for us, please visit our Foster/Volunteer page for more information and a link to our foster application.
Hey everyone, my name is Axel. I am a 4-year-old boy, and I had to say goodbye to my owner, since he was moving and I couldn't go with him. It was very hard for me to say goodbye since my owner and I have done a lot - we’ve had an awesome time playing in the backcountry. I’ve learned how to skijor, and backpack, and I’ve been a constant companion for him. I bond very tightly with my favorite person, and can be a little protective of them. My owner knew how to carefully introduce me to people - slow and easy is the key. Since I have been in boarding, I've been a very good boy and I get along great with the handlers here. I'm also very friendly with other people I've met and like being petted.
I used to live with another large dog, but I'm a little reactive when I see dogs and will need careful, slow introductions. I think I'd rather live with a large, mellow female dog or would be happy as the only pet. And of course, I have that usual malamute prey drive, so no small animals in the household please.
I am very obedient, I try so hard to please my favorite person. I easily learned the boundaries in my previous home - and am very smart. I get walked by the Moonsong volunteers here, but I'd sure like a lot more activity - it's pretty boring hanging out in this kennel. I know they will keep me safe until the right family or person comes along. Might that be you?
