My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This young 1.5-year-old, 11.7 pound sweet boy is Clooney. He is a Yorkie mix. Clooney has quite a story to tell for being so young. Clooney is being fostered in Tampa, FL.

UPDATED BIO 02/27/2019: Clooney had a sad life prior to coming into United Yorkie Rescue. He was rescued from an open balcony on a high-rise apartment complex by concerned and benevolent strangers where he had been abandoned for three weeks. There was no doggie bed, no toys, no blanket - nothing but three l-o-n-g weeks of loneliness and despair.

Clooney has come a long way since his first day in foster care just 18 days ago and is now slowly learning how to be a wonderful companion dog. Clooney has shown that he loves to be with his humans and will lay beside them, both during the day and at night while sleeping. He prefers to be next to you on the sofa, but not necessarily on your lap. He loves to lay on his back, showing his ultimate trust once he knows you. Of course, giving belly rubs helps him bond even faster!

Clooney is very friendly when he meets new people. Not overbearing, but he does insist on getting petted by coming up and giving kisses – and loves the attention. He’s not yet fully house-trained, but he does really want to please his humans. He knows that he is supposed to do his business as soon as he goes outside, but still has occasional accidents in the house. He is able to go 8-10 hours at night without going, but he needs to go outside as soon as he wakes up.

Clooney walks okay on a leash, but still wants to pull a bit. He goes into a crate when foster parents leave, and doesn’t seem to mind his alone time. He is slowly realizing that this is not acceptable behavior, but it will take time. Because he was just recently neutered, he may get better with his house-training soon.

Clooney does like to play with his toys, and is also learning to fetch and bring his toy back to you. He will toss a toy up in the air and chase it. Clooney is a young dog at just 1.5 years old, and therefore has a whole lot of energy to burn. He seems to be okay with cats, and with the right dog, he loves to romp and play

Clooney’s perfect home would be ……

- One where he had someone home with him most of the day to reinforce house-training and leash-training and work on his puppy manners

- One where there are no older dogs and no larger dogs, but a dog close to his size and age to be a play buddy

- One where there is a fenced-in yard since he loves to go outside and play, play, play. This is not a deal-breaker, but a BONUS for this sweet pup

- No children younger than 12 years old since he still has the puppy rambunctious behavior

Clooney is a healthy and happy young dog and is ready to go to his furever home, so if you think you might fit the bill of his requirements in a new home, complete the adoption application below and let’s see!

UPDATED BIO 02/09/2019: Clooney had a sad life prior to coming into United Yorkie Rescue. Thanks to the help of several benevolent and concerned strangers, he was rescued from an open balcony on a high-rise apartment complex where he had been living all alone for three weeks. There was no doggie bed, no toys, no blanket - nothing but three l-o-n-g weeks of loneliness and despair.

That has all changed for this sweet young puppy now that he is in the loving arms of his foster parents. He has been neutered and received all of his vaccinations, and now will begin to overcome the trauma that he suffered while fending for himself on that balcony. He is enjoying the other little dog in his foster home and loved the freedom of being outside for an hour to run around to his little heart’s content. He is inquisitive about his surroundings and independent as well, and also a smart little boy, already learning several commands which include Come, Stay and No. He is not leash-trained and his foster parents will be working with him on that as well as house-training. It appears no one took the time with him in his previous life to teach him basic puppy manners.

Clooney shows a great potential of being a loyal and loving companion dog, but it will take him some time to fully trust humans again after the humans in his life prior to coming into UYR failed him miserably. Please keep checking back to read about Clooney’s progress – adoption applications are being considered at this time with the understanding that he will be learning the ropes of being a companion dog and this may take a few weeks.
