Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Pochi is a 5-year-old, male Shiba Inu who came into rescue with his daughter, a Shiba/Pom mix when a family illness took them away. He is not bonded with his daughter, so can be adopted separately. He loves people and loves to greet guests. Pochi has been living in a multi-dog foster home and eats, sleeps, and plays with other dogs but he can be snippy with some dogs. He prefers females but we think he would really prefer to be the only dog who gets all the attention from his humans! Pochi loves to cuddle on the couch with his foster family. He often creeps into their lap and will nudge them until he gets belly rubs.
Handling: Pochi doesn't like his paws or ears touched. HE also isn't a fan of plucking his tufts of shedding fur! His previous owners noted the vet would need to muzzle him for nail trims. Our volunteer was able to trim his nails during his intake bath and has been working on desensitizing him to paw touch. Pochi will growl to let you know when you should stop. This will take time and trust so understanding that you may need to hire a trainer to help him with nail trims! Pochi now allows his foster mom to give a gentle ear touch as well. When touching his paws, Otherwise, once Pochi knows and trusts you, he allows de-furing massages which we think is more fun than brushing!
Pochi is a healthy male Shiba with no known medical issues. We think he would do great in a variety of homes. He would really love a family that will allow him on furniture so he can do what he loves to do - cuddle with a family! Pochi has not had any accidents and has not been destructive. He is not crated and he enjoys sitting on the bench looking outside at nature.
