My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Rat Terrier Lab Mix  | 2 years | Male | 21 lbs

*Temperament: Playful! Affectionate! Loyal!
*Activity level: Medium-high.
*Vetting: Vaccinated (core vaccines plus Bordetella); 4dx bloodwork negative for heartworm & three tick borne diseases (Ehrlichia/Anaplasma and Lyme); Fecal (negative), dewormed; flea/tick/heartworm prevention given; microchipped, neutered.
*Housebroken: Yes, but he is still adjusting to the cold Canadian weather and is having the odd accident. He was housebroken in Texas.
*Good with dogs: Yes, he can be over excited and nervous when meeting new dogs on walks but once he smells them he’s great!
*Good with cats: Yes! Though he does occasionally want to play with the cat in his foster home.
*Prey drive: He is very interested in squirrels outside but has shown no prey drive towards cats at home.
*Good with children: Once introduced properly he is open to cuddles and pets.
*Separation anxiety: None observed.
*Crate trained: Yes. Happily sleeps in his crate at night and enjoys relaxing in it when he wants.
*Resource guarding: None observed.
*Barky/noisy: He will bark when he hears people outside of his home, otherwise he is pretty quiet. May be an issue in a condo as he will bark when he hears people pass by the door and in the hallway.
*Leash etiquette: Working on it! He has some leash reactivity but is working on this with his foster and is improving!
*Good in car: AMAZING! He spent 3 days in a car on his way to Toronto from Texas and loved every minute of it!
*Lincoln’s bio may change as we get to know him better.
*Comes with 6 weeks of pet insurance totalling $500 worth of coverage.

This sweet pup shares his name with the historic US president “Honest Abe”. CCR’s adorable Lincoln is a southern gentleman hailing from Texas, USA. He is bound to steal hearts and be a popular pup! He is so affectionate, cuddly, and loving  - how could you not fall in love with his sweet face?
Lincoln is an energetic and fun-loving pup! He adores people and wants nothing more than to spend time with you. He is always up for some cuddles, pets, and belly rubs! This cutie pie has been dubbed “The Prince of Prance” by his foster parents. This sweetheart loves to play and prance around at home.
Lincoln is very well-behaved at home. He is currently crated when unsupervised and overnight, but he loves his crate! He can even be found choosing to relax in there sometimes during the day.
He is also a good alert dog and will let you know when someone is near your home. Lincoln barks when he hears noises outside of his foster home, including footsteps in the apartment building hallway. Due to this, he may not be the best match for someone that lives in a condo or apartment, if noise is a concern.
This young pup is good with dogs. He previously lived with other dogs of different sizes in Texas. He can be reactive due to excitement and nervousness on walks when he sees other dogs, but once he sniffs them he is great!
Lincoln has no issues with the cat in his foster home and they coexist wonderfully. Sometimes he will try to play with his kitty foster sibling by running around and play bowing.
Lincoln is still working on his leash skills and getting used to walking on busy Toronto streets. He can become overstimulated and too excited, as well as being reactive in certain situations. On walks, Lincoln may growl or bark at strangers in uniform, small children, men carrying packages, and other dogs. However, with proper introductions to people and dogs on the street he calms down and is pleasant. This sweet boy is even open to cuddles and pets from children when out and about once he is calmly introduced. Most of the time he is great when walking on leash, he only pulls when he is overly excited or reacting to something.
Lincoln is slowly getting used to walking on busy streets with the help of his foster parents and he is responding well to training, but his confidence and reactivity on leash will need continued work from his adopters.
This adorable boy is very smart and responds well to food rewards and positive reinforcement training techniques. He would flourish in a quieter environment with less activity around his home to help reduce triggering his barking. Though he is also slowly improving on this with training.
Lincoln will need someone who will be dedicated to working with him on his leash training and barking at noises outside his home. Otherwise this sweetheart is such a well-behaved and sweet pup!
