My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Jessie: Age: 6.5-7; Sex: M; Breed: Border Collie; Weight: 42 lbs; Activity Level: Active Companion; Coat Rough Black and White. This handsome fellow made himself at home during new construction of an estate family home in Chapel Hill which is really Cattle Ranch Country acres and acres of Cattle with another recently built home a few acres down the road. I do really wonder if this healthy boy was owned by a construction contractor that maybe had to move onto his next job that didn’t allow dogs since Jessie is drawn to all sounds sometimes barks mostly smiles and comes running to the sounds of chain saws- not really the BC nature, who are very sensitive to these things. Jessie just gets a real kick out all the activity and it’s been like a job for him following different groups of guys working on various projects than playing in mud puddles or chasing a stick and waiting for lunch time. Don’t worry he has had a fantastic spot inside the newly built home with a cozy sleeping bag and accommodations have been made as the house has gone through its stages of development. Now Jessie is putty with the home owner’s 9 yr old daughter. He has done well with another ranch owners dogs but disliked being kept in an outside pen and ran back to his real job following the guys as they worked construction on the home owner’s home. No one has seen him really before, maybe he had ducked in and out of barns but the homes are anywhere from 10-30 miles apart so were not quite sure, but he is heart worm negative!! He does like: to swim in the creeks and puddles; bear hugs from the owners 9 yr old; follows any job he sees in progress with a smile and some good time giggles; rides in the mule with the kids; rolls over for belly rubs; did excellent for the vet and eats out of a bowl politely. So now it’s my turn with Jessie to find his next journey. This boy needs some space in between homes and neighbors so he has some good open freedom in a secure fenced yard; ya know when your washing the dishes so he can go be a BC and look over knowing he is safe and home!! He would do best in an engaging home: hearty activity before work for the body and mind with a break for a work day be it coming home for lunch or a dog walker; someone works from home but can provide activity off and on during the day; active retired with continued outings and socialization. Don’t let his age fool you he is a busy boy with a calm nature!! He is looking for a FOSTER or FOSTER TO ADOPT HOME- cats are unknown, secure fencing is a must; children ages 8+; dog friends but dog parks maybe too much; a confident human leader wanting to share more with this cool dude. His adoption donation is $300: there is an application and home visit if applicable, at this time he won’t be adopted out of state without the applicant meeting him 1st.
