My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Petunia is a beautiful, gentle girl with a sweet disposition. She was taken in from outside on a bitterly cold day in November and before that her two kittens were taken in and have since been adopted together as a bonded pair. Petunia loves the comforts of living indoors - warmth, food, cushy beds, cat trees, being petted and combed, shoulder massages, being talked to, etc. She also gently plays with the ball in track toy, balls/mice, and likes the cardboard scratcher boxes sprinkled with dried catnip. She enjoys lounging on a cat tree in front of the window to see the birds and critters outside.

Petunia is a sweet, well-behaved, affectionate cat who is looking for a quiet home without too much commotion. Petunia is reserved with people she doesn't know. When forced to live outside, cats go into survival mode, and are wary. However, once she gets to know you, you will see what a loving, loyal companion she can be. We think she would do well in a home with a male cat, and even an older male cat, or a female cat who likes other female cats, but this is not a requirement. She loves the 13 year old male cat in her foster home, and he has helped her to be brave when she first came in from outside. She sometimes rubs and butts up against him, follows him around, and sometimes starts 'talking' to him. When Petunia's foster mom sits on the floor, Petunia will circle her rubbing against her, with little mews, and then climb into her lap and flop down as her foster mom pets her, sometimes rolling off her lap. Petunia enjoys being held, but she is also a great lap cat. Petunia loves being combed/brushed around her head and neck, and will often start purring.

When Petunia goes into a new home, it will take time for her to adjust to a new environment, new people, new sounds, smells, etc. For the first few weeks, she will likely be afraid, but as each day passes, she will get to know you. We think she will possibly adjust more quickly in a home with another cat, but every home/situation is different and it is difficult to predict. It will take a special person who has patience to give her time to adjust to everything that is new and unknown to her. Although afraid in new situations and with new people, as long as she has her secure place where she feels safe, she will gradually adjust and bond with you. Her adoption will start out as a trial adoption to make sure everyone is happy with each other. Petunia is an affectionate sweetheart, and she does adapt and settle in, as you can see by her photos.

Petunia has been spayed, vaccinated, has received Revolution and dewormer, has tested negative for Feline Leukemia, and is estimated to be approximately 2 years old.
