My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This dog is being fostered in Dallas TX and must be adopted within the Dallas, North Central Texas or the southern Oklahoma area.

NAME: Mary Jane
GENDER: Female (Spayed)
AGE: About 4 months old
WEIGHT: About 6 Pounds
DOGS/CATS: Gets along with other small dogs, Unsure with cats
CHILDREN: Should be great with children

Introducing Mary Jane. This adorable little girl is all puppy. She does everything at 100% — playing, napping, and cuddling. If you want instant joy in your home, Mary Jane is your girl!

Mary Jane is a happy, healthy, energetic puppy that was found wandering the streets in Collin County. When nobody claimed her, Chihuahua Rescue & Transport brought her into our program and committed to finding her a great home. We are so happy to have her – she is a delight!

Mary Jane is about 4 months old and definitely still in the “puppy phase.” She loves to play with her toys and chew on nylabones. The toys keep her focused and uninterested in other objects, like plants and napkins etc. By the way — she LOVES napkins! Give her a napkin, and she’ll tear it into hundreds of tiny pieces! She is so adorable that it is hard to get mad at her. Afterall, she is just a puppy!

Mary Jane gets along great with the other small dogs in her foster home. There are 2 older female Chihuahua’s in her foster home. MJ loves them and wants to play. But the OG’s (old gals) aren’t really into that and they will growl and let MJ know they don’t want to play! So, MJ eventually gives up and finds a toy and jumps in her bed or on the sofa or recliner. Mary Jane would love to have another small dog in her foster home to play with. She would also be fine as an only dog as long as her family is committed to spending lots of play and cuddle time with her.

Mary Jane loves the back yard. She loves running in the yard and doing crazy eights. She gets so excited when she finds sticks and leaves in the yard. She loves chewing on them and will proudly bring them to her foster Mom to show her what she has found. The joy in this girl will make your heart sing.

After MJ is done playing, she loves sitting on her foster Mom’s lap or next to her on the recliner. She’s a typical Chihuahua in that she wants to be with her human at all times, including following her foster Mom into the bathroom. There’s nothing cuter than sitting on the throne with a puppy right in front of you wondering what you’re doing. LOL.

In her quest to explore her world, MJ likes dragging socks out of the dirty clothes basket and putting them in her bed. There’s a basket of Chihuahua clothes and sweaters in a corner, and she also has drug out each of them, and they are currently scattered around her bed. It sort of looks like a tornado hit! Her foster Mom hasn’t seen any holes in the socks or dog clothes yet, so we think she just pulls them out and brings them to bed. She’s not really chewing them. Mary Jane is super smart. Even though she’s a puppy, any negative behavior is pretty easy to correct with a loud “No!” Sometimes her foster Mom has to say it a few times, but MJ finally gets that that behavior is unacceptable.

Mary Jane is not a licker. When her Mom wants to give MJ a kiss, MJ just puts her lips up, but doesn’t lick. She likes getting kisses on the soft area between her eye and ear. She’s also not much of a barker. The other night one of the older Chi’s started barking at something outside. At first MJ wasn’t participating, but then she thought it would be more fun to join in. Again, it didn’t take long for her to be corrected.

Mary Jane is really smart. She is working on her potty training and is almost there. There have been a few accidents but it is getting better quickly. Mary Jane is very treat motivated and knows that she gets a treat after she does her business outside. She also understands she can use the pee pads if needed. She goes potty every time she’s taken out. Some dogs just stand there if they don’t have to potty, but MJ figures, hey, why not? I’m here!

Mary Jane is about 6 pounds which is a great weight for her. She loves food and her new family will have to measure her food daily to ensure she does not gain too much weight. Currently MJ’s foster Mom feeds all 3 dogs separately because MJ will try to eat food from the other dogs bowls! She’s not aggressive about it; she just thinks their food is for her too!

We are beginning to work on leash training and halter training. It is obvious she had never walked on a leash before, so she is still not quite sure what this is about. It’s been cold lately, so her foster Mom hasn’t had a lot of opportunities to walk her outdoors. But we think she will enjoy daily walks because she loves being outside. This girl enjoys activity and people. We think she would do well in either an all adult home, or a home with children. She is friendly, smart, loving and is going to bring so much love to your family.
