The world has a long history of remarkable Coopers - Gary Cooper. Alice Cooper, Anderson Cooper, and now, may we introduce you to the next in line of Incredible Coopers - COOPER THE DOG! Cooper has been in our rescue for quite some time with a dismally low amount of interest because initially, he was struggling with reactivity.

However, with just a few weeks of board and train help, Cooper has taken his lovely long legs and made some major strides, so we're here to remind you all that this dog is a little GEM that you just can't miss out on if you're the right fit!

Half chi and half greyhound, Cooper is a sweet, affectionate little guy who wants nothing more than to snuggle with his humans. He's very good with other dogs and loves to play, BUT because he has a dominant personality, it's essential that Cooper's playmates be on the submissive side. When that magic chemistry is there, however, Cooper makes an excellent, energetic playmate for another dog. Cooper is a dream on the leash, and has totally moved past his reactivity. He loves to meet new people, but these introductions must be made properly, in a calm and controlled manner. Indoors, Cooper is very active chill. He loves to amuse himself with toys and could play with them for hours on his own. He is non-destructive in the home, and fully house trained. Cooper's foster dad monitors him with video surveillance when he's out of the house, and Cooper just lies on the couch and naps when he's left alone. If somebody comes to the door, Cooper will bark, but he responds immediately to a very firm NO!

What's really essential to Cooper's success at a new life is the right owner. Inside his tiny body is a HUGE heart and a very, very good dog - however, for this side of his personality to really shine, Cooper needs a no BS owner who can commit to being firm and consistent. The rules need to stay the same 100% of the time, because as soon as Cooper understands that he gets zero leeway to be barky or reactive, he is an absolute heart stealer.

Our boy Coop has proved in so little time that he is an amazing and wonderful dog who really wants to leave his rough start behind him. He's just waiting for his perfect match - Ideally, a disciplinarian with a gentle heart. You know who we mean? The kind of person who seems really tough on the outside and blares heavy metal in the car, but who also just wants to sit on the couch listening to Celine Dion while falling asleep with a Chihuahua on their chest.

Don't act like you don't want to help us find Cooper the perfect motorcycle-riding, leather-clad, heavy-metal loving SOFTIE to call his own.
