My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Maisy is not technically a Circle of Hope dog. She is what we refer to as a "courtesy post." Volunteers with our group are sometimes contacted by friends or family who need help re-homing a dog. That is what is going on with Maisy. She is currently living with a family in upstate NY who is friends with a long time volunteer of Circle of Hope.

This family adopted Maisy from a rescue group in Arkansas just over ago when she was 10 weeks old. This family has young children and the bottom line is that she is not a good fit with them and we will not place her in a home with them. The energy level and unpredictable activities of little kids can get Maisy nervous and we aren't sure we can trust her with that. We won't describe her as aggressive, and the best trainer in our area agrees and has said several times that she is not an aggressive dog. She is great with teenagers and adults and loves to meet them all the time. She also seems to love to play with other dogs. The doggie day camp she goes to says she never has had any issues. She is energetic and brings that energy to doggie games, so maybe a home with an older dog would not be a good fit. She also would not be good in a home with cats.

Maisy is very smart, active and playful. She would love a home with lots of activity and maybe even where she could be taught how to do a job on a farm. She is looking for frequent engagement. She isn't a dog who likes to hang out alone. When left alone for a long period of time she gets nervous and bored. She really likes a routine and adult companionship that is task oriented. She loves to play in the snow, shallow water (although not really a swimmer), tug of war and chase balls. She is great in the car and always up for walks, jogs and hikes. She is good on a leash, is crate trained, house broken and up to date with all of her vet care. She is truly loved by this family she has been with, but they know their home is not the best match for her due to their young children. If you think you have what Masiy needs and could give her that perfect home please let us know. All interested adopters please email Cari at carilifluke@gmail.com. I will send you an application to fill out once I hear from you.
