My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Sunny is an adorable little 3-year-old, 10-pound terrier. We named her Sunny, but then ended up calling her Happy Toes all the time because that just seems to fit her. Sunny lives in a foster home with 5 dogs and 11 cats, and she loves them all. She particularly adores the large dog in the house. One of her favorite activities is to zoom back and forth across the back yard playing games of chase with the other dogs.

Sunny was found as a stray. Coming out of the shelter, she was extremely reserved and skittish, but she started to warm up quickly in her foster home. She adores foster dogmom, but she prefers not to interact with dogdad, so we think it’s possible she has an issue with men. She is still skittish around strangers and may stay that way. She is house-trained and crate-trained, and she is not particularly barky. She does not chew or destroy.

Sunny loves to have foster dogmom tickle her tummy and tell her what a pretty girl she is. At night, she sleeps in the bed and loves to snuggle up against dogmom. She’s a very affectionate little girl. However, she does not like to be picked up. She will tolerate it, but she stiffens. We think something bad happened to her in the past to account for this odd behavior. We also believe that with time, she can overcome this fear.

Though she doesn’t like to be picked up, Sunny loves to be petted, and she loves tummy rubs in particular. She is fond of displaying her adorable tummy (see pix) in case someone walking by might be of a mind to give it a rub.

Whatever life she had prior to being found wandering the streets, we’re guessing it wasn’t good based on her general fearfulness. But once she understands she has a person she can trust, she opens right up and begins behaving like the happy, affectionate little girl she is.
