My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Fritz! This mature guy has had a rough go. He came in to rescue with his sister, Heidi, after his owner passed away. Family did not want the dogs and were going to put them to sleep so a foster stepped up to give them another chance. After waiting 8 months to find a home together, Fritz and Heidi were adopted to a great family. Unfortunately, Fritz displayed some territorial behaviors once brought home and the family returned him as they have small children. Since returning he has had some separation anxiety since he had been with his sister his whole life (11yrs!) and had never been alone. He does not get along with the male dogs at the foster home so he stays in a heated room in the barn. Although he goes out for walks regularly and gets time to run loose outside and in the barn he misses having someone around.

Fritz is 11yrs young and is looking for an experienced, understanding, patient person that can spend more time with him. He may enjoy the company of another submissive dog of similar size. He does well with the barn cats where he lives but should still be monitored as he is a hunting dog and has a strong prey drive. He loves to go for rides in the car, walks, and loves the water! He mostly just wants a soft place to lay his head and spend the rest of his days. He still has some get up and go but mostly he likes to lay in his bed in the presence of his person. He is a special guy and deserves to know what his own home and love is all about!

Fritz walks well on a leash and is getting the hang of potty training but will require a bit more work in this department as he has been an outside dog his entire life. He will require a home with no children or small dogs. He may do ok with cats and will require a meet and greet with any potential dog siblings.

Do you think you could be a match for Fritz? Give him a chance to be your best friend!
