Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Lady is a beautiful 3 1/2 year old chocolate lab who has a wonderful disposition. She has been dealt some challenges in her 3 years and is shining through them. Lady had a small tumor removed off her hind leg/hip last year. After her 6 month check up, it grew back and grew fast. In order to help save her leg - she was treated with Stereotactic Radiosurgery. This treatment is shrinking the tumor! She has lost the fur in the area and her skin gets a bit dry and needs to be treated with Aloe to keep it healthy. Lady will need to be seen at her Oncologist for follow up every couple of months to make sure the tumor continues to shrink.
Lady has been great around everyone! While she definitely needs to work on her "in your face" greetings - she is just happy to see everyone. We do have one cat that has given her playfulness a chance and they are friends now. She would enjoy having other animals in the house - as she keeps leaving her ball with the cat in hopes she will play with her. She has been with other family members dogs, and has done great. We do have a pool - and she can swim. She has kept to the steps the past couple of weeks when the kids invited her in. She enjoys splashing and digging her nose in. She has not countered surfed - and has kept out of the garbage and she has been faced with many opportunities to find treasures. She does like to eat tags off pillows and blankets and ropes - so as soon as the tug of war rope gets a little frayed -- it's time to toss it! She is kennel trained and likes her doggie bed. I have not had to kennel her, and she is left at home for 6-8 hours a day with no issues. Lady enjoys playing hide and seek with our teenage son. She finds him every time and gets so excited! I am not sure about a doggie door, but I don't think she would have an issue with it. She gets her daily walk or two - and is slowly learning how to walk on a leash. She just wants to see everything first. Lady will need a special family that is willing to be there for the rest of her treatment. We don't know how long it will take for the tumor to fully shrink, and at that time her options for final removal will be looked at. At the start of treatment, we where looking at a possible leg and pelvic area removal to make sure the cancer was completely gone. While the tumor has shrunk considerably - we don't know what her end results will be. She is an amazing dog - and would love to be with a family playing and being loved on.
