My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

We are well aware that there are a lot of Chihuahuas out there for adoption, but you won’t find another one like this. Thumbelina is a doll. One to two years old, and tipping the scale at 6 pounds, she has the tiniest head we’ve ever seen on a Chi. (The pix really don’t do her justice.) Add in her giant ears, and we figure if a good wind kicks up around her, she can probably fly!

While Thumbelina in not a timid dog, she is the most submissive dog we’ve ever seen. Every time she meets a new dog, and often when she meets a new person, WHOOSH, she’s on her back putting her fat little tummy on display. She’s living in a foster home with 5 other dogs and 11 cats, and she loves EVERYBODY. Rub her tummy, scratch her butt, scritch behind her ears—she loves affection and will happily snuggle up into your lap.

In the backyard, she’s one of a trio of our foster dogs we call The Zoomies because they go zoom, zoom all around the yard, chasing each other this way and that in a perfect tableau of doggie joy. Thumbelina and Priscilla, another of our fosters, may be sisters. They were found as strays roaming around together and they love to wrassle with each other.

Thumbelina is young enough to radiate the joy of a puppy but old enough to have her manners intact. She is puppy pad trained and crate trained. She’s not much of a barker, and she doesn’t chew, so she’s totally non-destructive. She is very fond of human food treats, but is not an obnoxious beggar.

At night time, Thumbelina snuggles up against foster dogmom in bed. She sleeps through the night with no problem and gets up in the morning to go outside and potty.

This diminuitive Chi is funny, loving and so stinkin’ cute! She’d make an excellent apartment dog (so long as your apartment complex has a dog park—she needs the exercise and social interaction with other dogs). She’d do equally well in a home with older children only. With her submissive ways, she’ll get along with any dog you happen to have.
