My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This dog is being fostered in Dallas TX and must be adopted within the Dallas, North Central Texas or the southern Oklahoma area.

NAME: Ruby
GENDER: Female (Spayed)
AGE: About 1 – 2 years
WEIGHT: About 4.5 pounds
DOGS/CATS: Gets along with other small dogs, Unknown with cats
CHILDREN: Should be fine with older, mature children (14 and older)

Introducing adorable Ruby. This name fits this girl perfectly as she is a real gem! You are about to fall in love!

Ruby gets along with other small dogs in her foster home. She has a lot of energy and loves to run and play with them. She also loves to cuddle with them. Ruby loves toys of all kinds. She loves squeaky toys and chew bones. She also loves to chase balls. Ruby plays for hours with her toys!

Ruby loves going outside and exploring the yard. Note that Ruby is small and therefore will always need her human near by while she is out (there are instances where hawks or large birds will swoop down and pick up small dogs under 5 pounds, so you will want to be there to protect Ruby). We also want to emphasize that your fence must be very secure. Ruby is so tiny that she can easily slip under the smallest opening in a fence, so she will need to be in a home with a solid, fenced yard. Ruby loves to run and explore, so her home will need to be secure in all aspects.

Ruby loves to snuggle with her humans. She is adorable in all aspects and wants to be your best friend! Ruby is a little shy and cautious when she first meets you. But once she knows you are safe, she loves being around you. She loves to cuddle. This little girl is a velcro dog with her humans. She loves to follow you around the house to see what you are working on. Whatever it is, she wants to be a part of it. Note that she is very active and loves to be right by your feet, so could be a tripping hazard! And she definitely wants to be on your lap while you watch TV in the evenings.

Ruby weighs 4.5 pounds and is fully grown. Due to her small size, we think she would do best in an adult only home or a home with older, mature children (14 and older). We believe Ruby is about 1 – 2 years old and has a lifetime of love to share. She is tri-color and super adorable. Ruby would be happy in either a house or an apartment. She is not a big barker. She would love to have another small dog to play with as she grows up (we do not recommend large dogs as companions with Ruby). She would probably be fine as an only dog too as long as her humans gave her lots of love and attention each day.

Ruby is potty trained. She is great at going outside or on a pee pee pad. She has not had an accident in her foster home. She currently sleeps in a soft dog bed inside of a crate. Due to her tiny size, we do not recommend bringing Ruby into bed with you. We are starting to work on leash training and will update her bio when we know of her habits in this area.

Ruby is being fostered in the DFW (Texas) area. If this sweet girl sounds like the right fit for your home, our CRT adoption form can be found at: http://www.chihuahua-rescue.com/adoption-application/

Ruby is spayed, micro chipped, up-to-date on shots, HW negative and on heartworm prevention. She is ready to join a loving family – could that family be yours?
