My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Big Mac is an adorable guy that is looking for a home to call his own. Here are 10 things Mr. Mac wants his new people to know about him:

1. I am an American Bulldog mix, and I’m about 5 years old. I am one of the smaller dogs here at The Bullpen, but at 85lbs, I’m a big boy by most standards.

2. I am very loving and affectionate, and I really like to be with my humans all the time. I was abandoned by my previous people, so when you leave I get nervous that you’re not coming back. I really need a family that will continue to work with me to help me learn to trust again and build confidence.

3. I like almost every person I meet. Although I need to hone my doggy manners a little more, I would be a good fit for a family that liked to socialize or had frequent visitors.

4. I met a few dogs at the shelter and have been around some of the other Bullpen dogs, and we got along just fine. I think that a home with a large, playful female dog would be the best fit for me.

5. Since I came to rescue, I haven’t spent much time in the company of smaller dogs, but I’m not sure that it would be a good idea to live with them given my size and energy level.

6. I am interested in the barn cats at the sanctuary in all the wrong ways. A feline-free house is what I need.

7. I haven’t had much experience with kids since arriving at The Bullpen, but I’m confident I could live in a home with children older than 10.

8. I am housebroken, crate-trained, and I also know basic commands! I am practicing my leash skills and general canine etiquette every day, and my new family will need to continue working with me on these things until I get it just right.

9. I am current on vaccinations, microchipped, and neutered.

10. I am heartworm positive, but I’ve already started treatment, and will come with all the medicine needed to complete it at my new home.

Ready to give Big Mac the forever home of his dreams? Fill out our Adoption Application, located at www.bullpenrescue.org under the 'work with us' tab.

**We highly recommend that our potential adopters fill out an online application as soon as possible, as it greatly expedites the process of finding the right dog for your situation.

Our dogs are available for adoption nationwide but preference is given to adopters willing to do an in-person meeting. Please understand that our dogs are not adopted on a first-come, first-serve basis, but rather we strive for a "perfect placement" so we know that they will not be failed again.**
