My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Brix Mastiff/Great Dane. She's so sweet, of course her name had to be sugary! She's a stocky gal that is a 74lbs lap dog at 6 months old. She will be 85 at her full weight. Seriously, there are no boundaries with her, she wants your lap. She is a toy collector. Anywhere she goes, she brings several toys along. She's a bit sensitive, she wants to please you, positive reinforcement is the way to her heart.

She's a Parvo survivor. She's a little behind in her socialization. So a training course is a must! She walks on a leash, but still learning her manners. She doesn't understand that everything you eat, she doesn't get a bite of, so no kiddos under 10.

We're looking families that have large dog experience. No cats since she's prey driven.

She hasn't met a dog she didn't love. So a four-legged playful dog her size would be her wish. She's a little bit of a rough player with smaller dogs - they really do not appreciate her play tactics.

If you need some sugar in your life, fill out an application. Her adoption fee is 700. She is up to date on her vaccinations and microchipped and spayed.

Here is more info on Danes:
1. Everything is twice as expensive. Yes, it is true. Vet bills, medications, dog coats and sweaters (required - they don’t have much fur or fat and get cold), giant sized dog beds, boarding when out of town)
2. Must be fed a quality food. This also helps in keeping the vet bills down.
3. Always good to consider investing in vet insurance.
4. Giant dog=giant poop. If you have an aversion to picking up big poop, invest in feeding your dog raw or reconsider getting a giant breed dog.
5. Any disagreements between dogs will be blamed on your giant breed dog even when it clearly isn’t your dogs error. Protect your dog and avoid situations that put them at risk.
6. Socialize your dog. Great Danes are social creatures and do like the interaction so invest in training (beyond the PetsMart classes if you can swing it financially)
7. Great Danes are prone to separation anxiety and do not do well being left alone for long periods of time or crated for long periods of time. Big dog = big destruction.
8. Read up on stomach torsion/bloat
9. Big dog = big love.:
