My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Jake will be three years old in a few months and is a pure bred German Shorthaired Pointer, with rare black coloring. He was originally bred and trained to be a hunting dog. His first owner surrendered him when he had to go back to work full time and no longer had time to work with him. He has since been returned to another shelter twice, Prior to Fido’s taking him into our program, for some resource guarding of things he has stolen from the trash. He is living with a trainer to work on this behavior and is making great progress. He can be encouraged through verbal guidance and reward to come away from what he is guarding. Due to his resource guarding in the past we will require no children in the home. We would love to find someone with breed experience and can keep Jake active. He walks great on a leash and overall very obedient. He is also dog friendly, and loves people. He has not yet been exposed to cats to our knowledge but we could cat test him if needed. He is crate and house trained, neutered, fully vaccinated and up to date on Heartworm and flea/tick preventative. His adopter would be required to continue lessons with his trainer/foster to ensure he doesn’t resort to old ways of guarding things he was able to sneak out of the trash. Adoption fee 150.00
