Meet Sophie... an adorable Shih Tzu who is now looking for her forever home. This sweet 9-year-old, 12-lb. girl came to us from Animal Control after being surrendered by her owners, who could no longer afford her care. Being a long-haired girl, she needs regular visits to the groomer every 4-6 weeks, along with brushing in between.
Sophie is currently in a foster home with multiple dogs, and gets along with everybody... human and canine alike. Her foster parents say she's perfect in every way! Sophie will do well in a home with other dogs or in a single-dog home, just as long as she has human companionship during the day and isn't left alone for long periods of time. An active retired couple, or someone working from home would be perfect for Sophie.
Sophie is well housetrained and would love to find a guardian who would welcome her into 'the big bed' at night. Sophie loves to wander and explore her yard, so a fenced yard is 'a must' for her. She rides well in the car and also does well on a leash.
Sophie is in good health, and is spayed, microchipped, dewormed, current on her Rabies and DHP/Parvo vaccines. She tested negative for heartworms and is on heartworm and flea prevention.
Sophie’s adoption fee is $275.00.
Forever Home Canine Rescue offers a 3-week trial period with all our adoptions, just to be sure that the pet is a good match for the adoptive family. The fee is refunded if the adoption does not work out within the trial period. We want to be sure that each of our pets will have the perfect “forever” home!

Forever Home Canine Rescue adopts out-of-state, but we never “ship” or “transport” our pets. An approved adopter must come to North Carolina to meet their new canine companion and then take him/her back home with them.
