My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Harmony is approximately 10 years old and now weighs a healthy 11 pounds. She is being fostered in Altamonte Springs, FL.

UPDATED BIO 07/31/2019: Here’s Harmony again – this sweet girl was found on the streets in horrible condition. Fast Forward 6 weeks – she is thriving and loving life in her foster home. Here’s what she had to say today:

Harmony here. Well, since I last reported in, I've had my dental cleaning done and only lost two teeth! So, I still have a lot of toofers left. And I have no trouble eating at all, so don’t worry about that. In fact, I have gained two pounds, so I am now at a normal healthy weight.

But the best news is that the awful infection in both of my ears is all cleared up, and my hair is starting to grow back – I still have a little way to go, but Foster Mom says I am beautiful and I believe her! I am now walking outside on a leash, and do most of my business there. Occasionally, I do still go inside, but have gotten much better at going on the potty pads when I do. Pretty smart of me, huh? I would still love a fenced-in yard so that I can get more exercise. Oh, in case you were wondering about me getting along with the kitty cat – it took some getting used to, but we now get along great together, and I don't harass her like I did at first. She is grateful lol.

Foster mom says I'm very sweet, lovable and affectionate. And I do love belly rubs! Also, I am now allowed to sleep in the big people bed, and on occasion my doggie bed. Why am I now allowed you may ask? Even though I have bilateral cataracts so I am vision-challenged, I have shown Foster Mom that I can see well enough to know if I'm too close to the edge and won’t fall off. I'm ready to go home with someone who can love me like my Foster Mom does. Oh, and one more thing, my forever parents must endure all the kisses I will be giving them! In other words, I’m a perfect companion – why wouldn’t you want to adopt me? I will love you forever and smother you in kisses. XOXOXOXO, Harmony

UPDATED BIO 06/26/2019: Sweet Harmony was found on the streets in horrible condition. Fast Forward a few days – she is thriving and loving life in her foster home. Here’s what she had to say just today:

Harmony here. I'm feeling so much better now! I've been getting some good medicine and good food since I was rescued, and my skin condition is almost all healed. My hair loss turned out just to be environmental allergies, probably from being on the streets as long as I was without anyone to take care of me; and the doctor says my hair should grow back just fine. I had bilateral ear infections, but I'll only be on my ear medicine for 7 more days, because they are feeling so much better.

The vet said that I would be healthier if I weighed a couple more pounds – my healthy weight should be 10-1/2 to 11 pounds. I can tell you right now that gaining some weight will not be a problem because I'm eating like a horse. I have bilateral cataracts and have very little vision in my left eye, but still have some vision in my right eye. This doesn't stop me from getting around without a hitch. Because of my impaired vision, I'm sleeping in a comfy dog bed on the floor. Foster Mom said that is safer for me than sleeping in the big human bed since she is afraid I could fall off and hurt myself. Hey, I’m just happy to have a bed to sleep in ‘cuz sleeping on the streets wasn’t much fun.

Foster Mom says that I'm a really sweet and quiet girl. Although I'm not used to walking on a leash, I'm learning to like that and I especially like being out in the sun and rolling in the grass. I've had all my vaccinations, and will be getting my teeth all shiny and clean tomorrow, and then I'll be ready to go to a new home with whoever wants me to love them the most!

Here’s what I need in my forever home:

- No children under 14 years old – this is for my safety since I’m vision-impaired

- A home with a fenced-in yard would be great since I am getting good at going potty outside, but I may have accidents inside until I get accustomed to the new smells and routine of a new home.

- I will be fine being your only four-legged companion, but if you have another dog close to my age and size, I’ll be okay with that, too.
