My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Butter is a female, Satin guinea pig. We estimate that she’s just about two years old. She is shy but sweet. She loves fresh veggies and likes to bring her food into her hidey house to enjoy in private. Although shy with humans, Butter would likely do well with a companion. She recently became a single pig due to the passing of her bonded mate, who happened to be her sister.

As a Satin, Butter will need a vigilant adopter to keep an eye on the potential progression of bone disease. This breed has a high risk of developing Osteodystrophy, which is a very painful metabolic disease where the guinea pig is unable to absorb calcium. It leads to decalcification of the bones. It’s completely unpreventable and the only treatment is pain medication. Butter had x-rays taken and her bone health looks good overall. She has slight development but our vet is unsure at what speed it could progress, if at all. Our hope is that she has several years left to be loved and spoiled, and most importantly, have another friend!Butter’s adoption fee is $25. For more information on adopting her, email us at info@wmicritterhaven.org. Adopters must be at least 18 years old.
