My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

For The Cats' Sake

Meet PEPPER! This sleek little lady is a beauty with a slim physique! She has a small patch of white on her chest that adds to her regal look, as if it were a necklace. She even has an adorable, dainty, almost silent meow that adds to her character.
Pepper was adopted once before into a multi-cat household. She did well at first, but began having trouble when a kitten was added to the family and then she could not get along with ANY of the female cats. Many efforts were made to try to mend the relationships between Pepper and the other female cats but Pepper wasn’t having it, so she was returned to us to find a home where she would be happier.
Although she was quite shy, she has really settled into a sweet and friendly personality. She can still be a little shy at first, but once she warms up to people, she loves to be pet and be near folks. Even though she has been an indoor kitty her whole life she has an adventurous spirit and loves to explore her surroundings. It’s probably this independent spirit that keeps her from wanting to be picked up or to be a lap cat. Pepper continues to get along wonderfully with male cats, loves to play, loves to eat, and loves to take naps (especially in baskets). She would love to be an only kitty if she could have enough human interaction or would also enjoy a boyfriend(s) . Because she doesn’t enjoy being picked up, she would do best in a home without young children. Schedule a time to come meet this wonderful girl at her Flint Hill foster home today!

We do not have a fixed adoption fee at For The Cats’ Sake, but instead ask for a tax-deductible donation to our group. On average, we spend at least $125 to cover foster care, testing for FeLV and FIV, vaccinations, flea treatment, deworming and any vet care/medicine that is needed. We ask that you cover as much of the $125 as you can afford, and set a minimum donation at $50. Our goal is to find the best home for each animal, and we feel this policy makes it possible for more people to adopt one or more cats. It is important to us that every adopter can afford to care for their pets properly and give them a home for life.

More about this rescue

For The Cats' Sake was founded in 2014 in response to a need for TNR in Rappahannock County, Virginia. Since that time, we have encountered many situations where there is no place for the cats to be returned. In other instances the cats are friendly or there are momma cats too pregnant to be spayed, or young kittens that are adoptable, but need socialization and foster care. Currently we have about 40 cats and kittens in foster care being prepared for adoption. All felines are Up to Date on vaccinations and tested for Feline Leukemia and FIV. Depending on age at time of adoption, they are also Spayed/Neutered.
