My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

my name is Taki, and I am an 6-year-old male, cream, Shiba Inu. DC SIR has had some pretty upsetting returns lately, but nothing comes close to my story. You see, I was left to my fate in an abandoned apartment, left without food or water with piles of discarded trash. The landlord of the housing temporarily took me into their home and contacted DC SIR about my story. The landlord didn’t have any information on me, just my previous owner’s name and that I was called “Tolkie.” DC SIR moved quickly to bring me into their care before I would be placed in a shelter. Upon pick up, I was immediately taken to a veterinarian’s office to be scanned for a microchip. This is when DC SIR confirmed that my real name is Taki and I am a DC SIR alumni. Let me tell you what they do know. My original adopter unexpectedly died and his mother, who also lived with him, begged DC SIR to let her keep me. They gave her all the resources to maintain the quality of life for all DC SIR Alumni and invited her to their online support group. But years later she called DC SIR wanting to get rid of me because her new boyfriend had a dog I didn’t like. They asked her to fill out the surrender form so that I could come back to DC SIR and reminded her it is in violation of the contract to give me away. Unfortunately, she violated DC SIR’s contract and gave me away to the individuals who eventually abandoned me. DC SIR is shocked and heartbroken over my story. But the good news is that I am back with DC SIR and they say I am such a loving and sweet boy who seems so very thankful to be with kind people. I got a bath and nail trim as soon as I got into their care since my fur was greasy and my nails were painfully long. I have some mild skin allergies, but DC SIR thinks this will clear up quickly with good nutrition. I love to play fetch, roll over for belly rubs, and eat boiled chicken. I am so relieved to be back with DC SIR! Location: Extended
