August 23, 2019: Tulsa is doing great. He is 100% crate trained and he is doing better with his separation anxiety. He hasn’t chewed anything when we leave in months. We have been leaving him either in his crate or in a room by himself with a bone. Since our dog is food aggressive we don’t leave him loose with a bone. Though I’m almost positive his new family could do that. He seems to be stuck at a stable healthy weight now.

April 18, 2019:Tulsa is estimated to be about one year old, I believe he is a Labrador/Border Collie mix. He was found wandering the streets of Southern Texas and no one claimed him. He was to be put down on March 7th but the Midwest Border Collie Rescue found him and let us know about his state. He stayed in Texas until the 15th with one of our volunteers. He did great with her female dog and he has been amazing with our girl. He is a bit of a runaway, he was able to escape her fence twice though she was unsure how. He did escape outside but our yard doesn’t have a fence. He didn’t run away, he ran around wanting to be chased. Our border collie even herded him back to me.

He is great with meeting new people. He has no problems with other dogs or kids. We don’t know about cats yet. He rides in the car loose just fine. He only whined a little, when we leave him alone in his crate or when we leave him alone loose in the house. He has chewed a little. I have a Camelbak backpack that I left out on the coffee table when I went outside to clean the garage. I came back maybe 15 minutes later and he had taken the whole backpack to the couch and chewed the mouthpiece. That was the only time he chewed though. I think he has some separation anxiety. He definitely has some confidence issues.

He does pretty well on the leash, he pulls when he sees a squirrel or something he wants to check out. He is very calm for a border collie. He still needs exercise but not nearly as much as our border collie does. We’ve played inside and outside a little, he loves playing fetch. He doesn’t know drop or stay yet. He will sit, lay down and come if you have a treat in your hand. He understands no and I’ve been pointing a finger at him when he does something bad. He did mark his territory twice in the house, that was only on the very first day though. He is now neutered so that may not be an issue anymore. When I scold him he acts like he has been beaten. He doesn’t have much confidence so when he does well I’ve been trying hard to make sure he knows he is a good boy.

He is definitely a cuddler, he loves laying on the couch, he will even lay on me if I’m taking up too much space. He still has a lot of puppy in him, he is very clumsy. He runs into things all the time. He will shake a toy and hit his head on walls or anything around him. I have taken him on runs with my dog. They run great together. Tulsa seems to enjoy the lake water. It’s been too cold and he isn’t able to get into the water yet still after his surgery so I’m not sure how he swims he really seems to want to.
