Here's what the humans have to say about me:
These giant ears belong to Tobey! Tobey is a 3 year old male chihuahua who is ready for his forever home! Tobey is about 20lbs, which is much too large for his little frame! His new owners will need to get him on a diet and exercise program quickly. This shouldn't be hard as Tobey LOVES being outside running around, hanging out with other dogs, and just being active in general.
Tobey is full house broken, but may mark in a new space. He loves to wander around while outside sniffing everything he can and marking it. He walks really well on a leash and is very easy to control. He can move pretty quickly for a big guy, so he will keep you on your toes.
Speaking of toes, Tobey does like to nibble toes of people he doesn't know! He will guard his home and people from intruders, and his foster home has seen him nibbling toes of people in sandals who come over. It's best to ignore him until he calms down and he will soon be your best friend. He just needs time to adjust and realize that not all people are intruders.
Tobey also does not like being in sweaters, so if you try to put a sweater on him he may get upset. He thinks he has plenty of winter weight to get him through the cold months, luckily.
Tobey does love to cuddle. He will cuddle you and keep you in bed or on the couch endlessly if you let him. He will rush up to your face and push into you with all his might to get as close to you as possible. it's super adorable. His people are his world and once he knows he can trust you, Tobey will be forever your best friend.
Like most chihuahuas Tobey does have his limits. He would not be best in a house with small children or cats as he may chase them.

NOTE: Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most of the dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label.
We expect that all adopted dogs will enroll in a formal dog training class with their new owners. Obedience and training classes are an excellent way to learn more about your newly adopted dog, gain handling and training experience, and improve your relationship with your pet.
