My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Willie the "Wonderful Wiener" - Please read the entire bio. An application may be submitted from our website www.hearts4doxiesrescue.org - must be over 21 years old.

Willie is a fun-loving, happy, sweet, playful and energetic 8 year old small tweenie doxie whose very muscular and strong, weighing approximately 15.5 lbs. Being part of the family brings Willie the most happiness and has let it be known that he wants to be in the big bed! Where you are, Willie wants to be - snuggled on the couch or in the yard. Regular walks are great to maintain his activity level, however Willie needs to have adventurous walks on trails or weekend trips. His leash training is a work in progress and tends to pull (especially when seeing small critters out and about). Willie is not a fan of being crated and is learning that this is a positive and safe place through positive reinforcement.

Willie gets along with older children (12+) and other small dogs. No need to install an alarm because this guy will let you know when strangers are at the door and will keep your yard patrolled of small critters!

Willie's best home will be home at least part-time, full-time or work from home. He definitely needs another dog companion to play, wrestle and cuddle with. He is quick and can be quite the escape artist - a fully fenced, secured yard is a must. He is not suitable for apartment or condo/townhome living.

Willie is at his ideal weight, eats a quality kibble, a daily joint supplement all of which promotes overall health for dachshunds. He should learn to use steps/ramps to avoid jumping (which can hurt the back).

His home is best for previous dachshund ownership and not first time. His breed is very specific and requires this knowledge.

Willie is fostered in Monroe, WA with a family dynamic of Mom, Dad, older child and 3 fur friends.
