My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Henri had been turned into the Houston city kill shelter as a euthanasia request because he was "too big" for his owner's apartment. (Yes, we were eye rolling, too). The shelter preferred that he get out via rescue rather than be euthanized and we agreed to take him in under our care. He was a complete mess and had very clearly not been cared for by his former owner. He came to us with hair mats down to the skin, very dirty, stinky and emaciated. We are working on getting better photos of him, but the ones posted currently are from his intake day. You can see just how bad he looked. Despite the mats, the dirt, and the neglect he had so obviously suffered, he was super happy to get out of the shelter and go for a ride with our volunteers. Look at that smile! We have gotten him groomed, fully vaccinated, microchipped and neutered. We are working on getting some weight on him. Henri is a 2 year old Miniature Poodle mix male who weighs 18 pounds. He likes to sit on laps, but is also an active boy and would really enjoy going for walks and playing with other dogs. He is a bit unsure around kids, so we would prefer he go to a home without small children. Henri's adoption fee is $650 (that includes ground transport from Houston, TX to the Chicago, IL area). Transport is arranged to approved adopter upon completion of adoption paperwork. Henri is currently in his foster home in Houston, Texas.
