My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

MEET TOBY! This little nugget is 5-1/2 years old and only weighs 4.8 lbs. Toby is being fostered in Orlando, FL.

UPDATED BIO 11/20/2019: Hi, Toby here. I've been with my new foster mom for just a few days now, and I've finally learned how a little companion doggie like me is supposed to live and be loved! And I’m liking it!

I saw the doctor yesterday, and except for a couple small issues which are going to be resolved in the next few weeks, I'm a healthy little boy. I was also heartworm negative – thank goodness! I got all my vaccinations, and the vet said that I need to gain a few ounces.

Now that I’m eating yummy nutritious food on a regular basis, I don’t think that’s going to be a problem. Bring on the grub!

Because I was rescued from a not-so-good situation, my poor teeth are icky and make my mouth hurt, so I need a dental very badly – that will be done the same time as my neuter next week. The doctor says I don't have very many teeth left, and will most likely lose all of them. But, that's okay. Foster mom said that she will feed me soft food for a while, and she said that some doggies like me with no teeth can still eat kibble – wahoo! One more thing - my anal glands were infected and that made me feel really bad. But I’ll be on antibiotics for two weeks, and after that time if all that has been cleared up, I’m ready to go to my forever home.

Foster mom says I am the SWEETEST, most adorable little boy, and that I love cuddling and belly rubs! I see no reason to argue with that. I love being on foster mom’s lap. I also love being outside and going for walks, so a fenced-in yard would be a big bonus. I also walk very well on a leash. Because I have not been neutered yet, I do have a tendency to mark my territory, but hopefully, I'll be better about that afterwards. In the meantime, foster mom keeps a belly band on me when I'm inside, and I don't mind that at all. Because I am so small, I also don't sleep in the big people bed, because I could fall (or jump) off and hurt myself. So I have a snuggly bed of my own, with a soft comfy blanket that the nice people from "Wrapped in Love" made for me.

Here’s another bit of good news - I get along very well with the other resident doggie and the cat that live in my foster home. I could be your only dog, or I would be just as happy having a doggie companion close to my size and age. I am a very happy boy now that I am in a loving home where I am being so well taken care of. Might you be the one/ones who want to love me like that next? I hope so!

PLEASE: Due to Toby’s small size, he cannot be adopted into a home with any children under 14. NO EXCEPTIONS!
