My story

Karla is a four year old, black Shepherd mix. She is exceptionally smart and does amazingly well with her training. Karla will need a kind, committed, confident and active person who can channel her energy and drive and allow her to be the magnificent friend we know she is. She is a lean 50 pounds.

Here is the tricky part - Karla does not like strangers, and sometimes other dogs. Karla takes a long time to warm up, and as such she cannot go home with just anyone. She is protective of her people, so she will need a home where this is respected. An experienced dog owner is a must. Shepherd experience is a plus.

If you are interested in meeting this wonderful dog (she really is a sweetheart once she knows you!), please fill out an adoption application.

Karla had a DNA test and she is 46% German Shepherd Dog, 32% American Pit Bull Terrier, 9% Rottweiler, 5% Dalmatian, 4% American Staffordshire Terrier, 2% White Swiss Shepherd, 1% Belgian Sheepdog, and 1% Bohemian Shepherd Dog.

More about this shelter

Animal Rescue Foundation (ARF) is a 100% volunteer, non-profit, no-kill shelter for dogs and cats. We are funded entirely by private donations, fundraising efforts by volunteers and adoption fees.

ARF is always looking for new animal lovers to join us. We need caring people who are interested in devoting some time and effort to helping needy animals. Just a few hours a week can make a difference in the life of an animal. When you give animals the gift of your time, you'll get back as much as you give—maybe even more.
