My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This dog is being fostered in Dallas TX and must be adopted within the Dallas, North Central Texas or the southern Oklahoma area.

NAME: Lucy
GENDER: Female (Spayed)
AGE: About 6 years
WEIGHT: About 10 pounds
DOGS/CATS: Gets along with other small dogs, Unknown with cats
CHILDREN: Will be fine with older, mature children (10 and older)

Meet adorable Lucy. This girl has an an endearing look with her floppy ears and her deep brown eyes. And when she tilts her head and looks at you, you cannot help but fall in love!

Lucy has a mellow personality and fit immediately into her foster family. She is one of the sweetest dogs we have ever had in our program. If you are looking for love, cuddles, gratitude and a sweet disposition – Lucy is your girl. She is a super easy little girl.

Lucy LOVES her human family. She gets so excited when her family comes home from work. Lucy wants to be every where that you are and will follow you around the house so she can be included in family activities. She loves to cuddle and give / get affection. Lucy will hang out on the couch with you all night as you watch TV and unwind. A perfect home for her would be a relaxed home with family members around. She is super quiet (we have not heard her bark yet!). Lucy would be great for a work-from-home family or even a retired couple.

Lucy gets along with the other small dogs in her foster home. She has a gentle soul and just fits into the pack. She does not play much with the other dogs or even with toys. But she is sweet and will lay down to nap and relax with them. There are no cats in her foster home so we do not know how she would do with a cat.

Lucy is about 6 years old and has many happy years ahead of her (as you know, Chihuahuas can live to be 15 years or older). She weighs about 10 pounds and is fully grown. Lucy has a shiny black coat with white highlights. Lucy will stand on her back legs for a treat. We are beginning to teach her how to “sit”. She would do fine as an only dog or with 1-2 other small dogs. There are no human children in her foster home, but we believe she would be fine with older, mature children (10 or older).

Lucy is potty trained. She goes potty in the back yard or on potty pads in her home. She has not had any accidents in her foster home. She currently sleeps in a doggie bed in her foster parent’s bedroom (but sometimes she sneaks up on to the bed and under the covers – LOL). She is crate trained and will stay in a crate when her parents are out running errands. She gets to stay out during the day as she is very behaved. This is almost the perfect dog – someone is going to get an amazing family member with this little girl.

Lucy is being fostered in the DFW (Texas) area. If this sweet girl sounds like the right fit for your home, our CRT adoption form can be found at: http://www.chihuahua-rescue.com/adoption-application/

Lucy is spayed, micro chipped, up-to-date on shots, HW negative and on heartworm prevention. She is ready to join a loving family – could that family be yours?

This dog is a CRT rescue. Reference checks, adoption contract and $250 adoption fee plus Texas Sales Tax required (note: as of 1-1-20, the Texas State Comptroller office is requiring all rescue groups to collect sales tax on adoptions, even though we are all 501c3. We are all fighting this, but for now, have been told it is non-negotiable).

As part of our mission to reduce the number of unwanted and sick dogs, we require that all current pets are spayed or neutered, current on vaccinations and taking heart worm prevention. Applications will not be considered if one or more of these requirements are not met.

After filling out an adoption application (found at http://www.chihuahua-rescue.com/adoption-application/), please email DFWCoordinator@chihuahua-rescue.com if you are interested in this dog. Please be sure to read about our adoption process and then fill out an adoption application before emailing the contact person.
