Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

We require all adopters to fill out our 2 page adoption application. We then have an interview process to go over some basic questions, a 24-hour research hold, and a whole-household meet-and-greet. Many of our dogs will also require a home-visit. Our mandatory adoption donation is $100, which helps offset the cost of all vaccinations, microchip and registration, and spay/neuter that we have provided.

Go meet their pets

Lone Star Sanctuary is open to the public 6 days a week from 1-5pm, and only closed on Thursdyas. On the 2nd Saturday of every month we host an adoption event at Dillard's in the Midland Park Mall off Loop 250. On the 3rd Saturday of every month we have an adoption tent at the Midland Farmers Market. We also have periodic adoption events, so stay tuned for that information!

More about this rescue

Our Mission of “Saving and Changing Lives” will be accomplished by our providing a compassionate, caring and professional sanctuary for the protection of homeless or abused animals, and placing those animals in permanent loving homes where they will be cared for and loved for the remainder of their lives.

Our Commitment is to care for the animals until they are placed with permanent loving homes. We will strive to educate the community about proper care and handling of animals and the importance of spaying/neutering to control the animal population.

Our Focus is on companion animals, primarily dogs and cats. The animals will remain at the shelter until placed in permanent stable homes with loving and responsible owners.

Our Priority is on life – we are a No-Kill facility. Our staff and volunteers are committed to making the animals' visit in the shelter as brief and comfortable as possible.

The Emphasis of our shelter is on the animals' welfare – here, the animals have a home and they always come first!
