Onyx, 4 yrs, shepherd mix, 27 lbs

Hi. I’m Onyx. I am approx a 4 yo male shepherd mix and I weigh about 27lbs. My story is going to sound sad and scary but I want to be honest so my next home is my furever home. I came from Tennessee where i was badly abused/neglected. A few of my friends I was living with weren’t as lucky as me to have found their freedom ride to NY. Although I don’t like talking about my past I am slowly learning what it’s like to be in a warm and loving home. I might seem broken at first and may take awhile to learn your house rules but give me time and I’ll show you what a wonderful and loving pup I am. There are a few things you should know first ... I have to be in a home where I am the only 4 legged family member and I probably wouldn’t do good at dog parks/doggie daycare. I haven’t been around children but loud noises make me nervous so a quieter home would be best. I also will demand a lot of snuggles and belly rubs as they are my favorite. I am great in my crate and sometimes prefer it. I’m learning how to walk like a good boy on a leash and enjoy walks around the neighborhood. I have a good appetite and respond well to treats.
