My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Parker is an adorable little yorkie who is 3 years old and weighs 8.3 lbs. Parker is being fostered in North Port, FL.

UPDATED BIO 02/17/2020: Hi Everyone - it's me - Parker. I'm just checking in to let ya'll know how I am doing. I moved to another foster home recently and I really love my new foster mom and dad.

I had a visit with the doggie doctor this week to have some x-rays taken to see if there was anything that could be done to help me walk better. The good news is that my hips are perfectly fine. The not-so-good news is that it looks like I have a problem with my spine, either caused by an injury or it may be something I was born with. Not too much is known about my past, but when I came into UYR, they were told that I was paralyzed in my pelvic limbs (rear legs) at birth and was unable to walk.

The nice doggie doctor prescribed some meds that will help me with some pain I may be having and that will also let the doctor know a bit more about my condition if these meds help me with my mobility. He told my foster mom that the only way to really know what is going on is to see a doggie neurologist. He said that would be a whole lotta money, so stay tuned about this.

Foster mommy has been taking me on walks - I sure do love being outside a lot! Foster mommy says I'm a little lover; I'm not sure what means. I just want to hug, kiss and be your best friend. I love being with my humans and I think I may be a Velcro dog. So that's what is going on with me and I'm here waiting for my forever home. Love, Parker

PLEASE NOTE: Please don't turn away from this precious little boy due to his disability. He is a happy and content little nugget who will bring so much love to his forever family. If you have a special place in your heart and home for a little adorable wheelchair baby like Parker, please consider adopting him. Due to his disability, Parker does need at least one stay-at-home parent to take him out regularly and attend to his needs. L.

UPDATED BIO 01/17/2020: Parker has been in his foster home for five weeks now and is doing very well. This little boy didnt have such a great start in life. He was born paralyzed in his pelvic limbs (rear legs) and was unable to walk. His front limbs are normal. Parker has improved with his mobility and is able to ambulate reasonably well although he is uncoordinated and will fall over if he gets too excited. PLEASE NOTE! Due to Parker's disabilities, he can only go into a home with children over the age of 14 years old.

Parker now has a doggie wheelchair and he is not so excited about it at this point, but his foster mom continues to put him in there several times a day in the hopes that he will become more comfortable and confident in it as the wheelchair will give him much more mobility.

Parker loves to be with his person and be the center of attention he is definitely a Velcro dog. And he loves everyone he meets what a sweetie! He wants to be with his person all the time and will follow his foster mom all over the house. He does have some control over his bladder but wears a bellyband in the house since he will dribble a bit when he gets excited. At this time, he doesnt have control over his bowel movements, but that may change as he becomes more mobile. Parker will also do his business outside when he is taken out on a regular basis.
