Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Shelly is a darling female Bichon Frise mix .... how does one describe the tug at your heart when you meet this wonderful little dog. Determined to greet and love everyone around her, the response to her approach is always “what a sweet little dog”. Pretty as a picture with her soft poodle-like non-shedding black and white coat and beautiful trusting eyes that can lure you into spoiling her rotten!! Shelly weighs 14 pounds. No background on her and her age is a mystery, definitely over five but certainly not old!! The person who turned her over to us thought she was about 7-years-old. Shelly arrived at the Safehouse on 10/09/2019; she came to us from The Anti-Cruelty Society in Chicago because she had a cancerous mass on her shoulder and they preferred not to spend the time and expense necessary to provide for her care. Shelly has recovered from the 11/05/2019 surgery that fully removed that growth and she is now cancer free. Shelly is sweet and friendly, with a happy wagging tail and wants only to love and be loved. Well mannered, she likes to go for nice walks and car rides. Shelly appears to be house trained but will need time and help to adjust to your household and schedule. Her favorite place to nap is on a soft pillow, at night she prefers to sleep in a (people) bed. Shelly can be confined but she prefers to sit quietly by your side or in your lap and keep you company while you work around the house. Frantic for closeness, although she can be left safely home alone, if you are at home she will insist on being with you. When it comes to other dogs, Shelly is a loner; she can live with another small dog but would not be a companion to one. She would be okay with older (middle-school) children but she is too excitable for younger ones. Shelly is looking for an adult family that will love her, hold her, play with her and bask in the wonder of a very special little pet who wants nothing more from life then to have a home of her own and a family that will appreciate the unlimited companionship and devotion Shelly was born to provide. A thickening of her bladder wall discovered during her pre-surgical ultra-sound makes Shelly particularly susceptible to bladder stones and as a result she requires a Veterinary Prescription Diet dog food. Shelly is spayed, has a microchip, is current on all vaccines, heartworm and flea/tick preventative, and she has had a complete physical and dental. Her adoption fee is $350. (Updated 02/27/2020)
