My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Due to COVID-19 we are not doing adoptions until May 8th, 2020

My name is Astrid and that means that I am a mighty warrior with much strength. And boy, have I needed that name to get through the last few months of my life. I am probably around ten years old, but like any lady, I'm not revealing my age exactly! I am a "tiny little one" no bigger than a kitten at just 5#s and 12 ounces. When I was an owner give up and spent five months at an area shelter, I was a warrior and survived, but my weight got down to just 4#s and I was very sad and depressed. Fortunately for me, I was able to go to Cats Haven to help me recover and regain my dignity. I immediately went into foster care with Foster Mama Katie and Daddy Vic.

At my foster home, I have gained weight, learned how to love again and am starting to want to play again. I am FiV/FeLv negative and am spayed. I am very happy now and am able to show my sweet loving personality. I am up to date on all my vaccines and just had my teeth cleaned with several pulled. My mouth should feel MUCH better now!! I am perfect with my litter box habits and love to eat both wet and dry food. If you are late with my wet food, I will call you by meowing at you. That's about the only time I meow, but oh, how I love to purr!! I don't make a sound when I ride in my carrier in the car, so I might even be a traveling companion.

I know, I know, mighty warriors aren't supposed to be lovers, but after nearly half of a year being a mighty warrior, I have cleaned up my coat, turned a new leaf and given up my old life. I like my name, but I have turned into a happy warrior now. If you have a lap for me to sit in, I will sit with you for as long as you like. I will headbutt you, rub all over you and give tiny kitty kisses on your chin and wash you if you'd like. You do have to watch me a bit if you pet me around my mouth because I may nip your hands. But now that my mouth won't be so sensitive after my dental, I may give that behavior up entirely. I love to be brushed every night and I try to brush myself if you hold the brush just right!

I have a few favorite things that I will bring to my new forever home. I have fallen madly in love with my Milly bed and Cosmic Catnip banana both of which will go home with me. If you would like to be my forever family, please check with Barb Wills at Cats Haven. The shelter reported that I am OK with other cats and dogs but that I don't like young children very much. If you are ready for a happy, loving warrior princess, I should be your new little girl!

Here are some recent pictures of me. Enjoy!

LOVE purrs and headbutts, Astrid
