Poncho is definitely more of a cat than a canine & he’s such a sweet boy..
Poncho needs a quiet home where not a lot of strange people will be going in + out & he must have a space to escape to - he LOVES his kennel & that is a requirement for adoption.
He is a skittish dude but once he’s comfortable around you he does love to be goofy, get belly rubs, cuddle & go for walkies. He’s an incredibly sweet boy that needs a patient home willing to let Poncho be Poncho.
You must be willing to give him the time it will take to decompress & feel comfortable, which will be longer than your average new family member.
He would do best in a home with a more mellow dog, nobody too rowdy. Cats unknown. Older, dog-savvy kids OK.
Poncho came to us last year from PR, was adopted for 7 months & returned a little over 7 months ago.
He had a bad case of mange when we rescued him which caused his hair to fall out + follicles never regrew, so Poncho is mostly hairless.
He will require frequent bathing - but not more than once per month.
Poncho is mostly housebroken but we use a belly band & it works great - he has never soiled his kennel.
Poncho is about 6.5/7 years old, 25 lbs, neutered, UTD on vaccines + microchipped & recently had a dental cleaning.
If you have a yard we require that it be fully fenced & secure. Apartments are OK.
